Silos and feed conveying systems
This category covers poultry farm silos and feed conveying systems, from storage into the house. Feed is stored in the silo, carried by the auger conveying line to the house hopper, and from there enters the feeder lines. If feed is prepared on the farm, a grinder, mixer and elevator are added to this chain. The three products in this category are these three links.
Products in this category
- Feed storage silo: a bolted silo of corrugated galvanised sheet, standard capacity 2.5 to 30 tonnes and custom capacity up to 100 tonnes, on 4 to 10 tubular legs. It has a caged ladder, an inspection window and a lever for opening the top hatch from the ground. Assembly and disassembly are simple.
- Feed conveying system: a conveying line with a steel spring auger inside a wear-resistant tube that carries feed from the silo to the house hoppers. A capacitive sensor at the end of the line stops it when the hopper is full.
- Grinder, mixer and elevator: an on-farm feed preparation set with a hammer or roller mill, a vertical or horizontal mixer and a screw elevator, in capacities of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 tonnes per hour.
Selection criteria
The silo size and conveying line length follow from the house feed consumption and the interval between feed deliveries. For an estimate, the specialist needs this information:
- Number of houses and the capacity of each house per cycle
- Rearing type: broiler, layer or breeder
- Distance from the silo site to the house and where the line enters the house
- Whether feed is bought ready-made or prepared on the farm
- Ground conditions at the silo site and access for the feed truck
- Power available for the conveying line motor and, if needed, the grinder and mixer
